Inspiration

Tracey Boot and Hélène Lenoir have been traveling for many years in Europe  to meet and discover: networks, mask companies, mask festivals, mask artists, mask makers, teachers, museums...
These experiences allowed us to discover the joys and misfortunes of travel. There would be much to tell! And this is also how our new creative project was born: "Check point".

Our travels become an inexhaustible source of inspiration, where every step taken and every meeting made enriched our understanding of the world around us. We have found that beneath the surface of each culture there are fascinating stories and deeply rooted traditions that, once revealed, offer a new and enriching perspective.

"Checkpoint" is part of this approach of discovery and sharing, in using the universal language of the mask to transcend language and cultural barriers.

Our Checkpoint project is an invitation to reflect on the themes of identity and otherness, but also a celebration of the differences that unite us in our common humanity. With our masks, we hope to awaken consciences, provoke emotions and inspire open-mindedness to the unknown.

Despite the diversity of our origins, we discover that we all share the same fundamental desire to understand and be understood.

The keywords

Encounter, cultures, language, border, face and body, freedom, together... are a few key words. All this approached with masked theater, our specialty.

Border/ Checkpoint

Each border crossed arouses an apprehension mixed with excitement, a mixture of fear of the unknown and curiosity for what we will discover. The checkpoint,Symbol of physical and cultural barriers,It becomes an obligatory passage where our expectations and fears are confronted.

Checkpoint... without passport

How de we overcome obstacles? The apprehension of being arrested, questioned...
The absence of papers, far from just a constraint, has become a lesson in humility and confidence in the ability to navigate the world. A world where rules sometimes seemed inflexible. Yet it is in moments of uncertainty that we discovered our strength of our resilience. Faced with the unknown, we have learned to be creative.

Meeting/ Living together

Our two characters, two women with opposite natures, embark on a journey into the unknown...One, a wild adventurer, while the other, armed with a rainbow route, follows each colour to the letter. They meet on the road and the trouble begins...

Moments of tension, but also laughter and complicity. Each, with her own expectations, will have to learn to adapt to the other. Will they find a balance between spontaneity and planning.

Cultures

Language, face and body

Each encounter becomes a delicate dance between cultures, where language, face and body become instruments of universal communication. Language boundaries blur when emotions are expressed by a simple smile or complicit look.

Through body language, we share stories without saying a word, revealing the essence of our common humanity. It is these moments of deep connection, beyond words, that enrich our journey and remind us that the real bridges between cultures are built with the heart.
